What???????
Jack, “Mama, when I have children, I want to have them in America.”
Me, “Why?”
Jack, “Because I want them to be American like me.”
Me, “I think that sounds like a great idea, we’ll take you back before you have children.”
Jack, “What am I going to wear on the plane?”
Hmmm….
Jack had an “open classroom” day at school today. Parents were invited to go to their child’s classroom and see what goes on during a typical morning. While I was there Jack worked on a writing activity, used the smartboard to read a book, and played a game with a friend.
Here is Jack playing a game with his friend:

Recently I have been asked if Jack and Ella are twins… In the pictures below, you can see why. The two times I have been asked they were sitting down next to each other so you couldn’t see the 2.5 inch difference that Jack has on Ella. The first time they were sitting in the first aisle on a plane from Brunswick to Atlanta and perturbed because they couldn’t put their stuff in the seat in front of them. The second time was after playing games at the bowling alley. So I had to get a picture of them from that day so you could see how they resembled each other. it will be interesting to see how their hair changes color over time and who ends up the tallest!!!

Jack wanted a flash light (or as Aussies say, a “torch”) in bed last night. He didn’t get one as he needed to get to sleep. I told him how when I was a girl I would sneak a flash light and read my book with the sheet pulled over my head. I thought that Nana Wene wouldn’t be able to see what I was doing. Ha! I heard lots of times, “Jill, go to sleep”. Jack laughed at the thought of Nana Wene yelling at his mama. He asked me what was I reading. I said I could remember reading Charlotte’s Web when I was young and promised him we would see if it was at the library. We looked it up on the library computer as I could not remember the author. It was located at “J WHIT” (Junior section, author E.B. White), so he figured out where it was based on his new alphabetical skills :)
Here is Jack at the library while I was looking for books for me.
Baby girl crawled into my bed this morning and said, “mommy, let’s move”. I of course asked why and she said, “because I want a new bed”. So yes, she has moved into so many furnished units she thinks that everytime she moves she will get new furniture!
I just made Jack laugh so hard and had to share…
He was writing his spelling words and doing it very quickly so we had very sloppy letters. We started talking about, well i started lecturing, about how if he would write them nicely then soon it would be easy to write them nicely as he would be in the habit and when you do stuff sloppy you tend to become sloppier… and on and on with other ideas - nothing was really working (he was looking at me like he was already a teenager; looking at me like he could see through me) until I said, “what do you think would happen if Papa Cheeks decided to hurry and cut his wood for his shop?”. I acted like I was cutting the end off a piece of wood at an angle and was silly about how the wood for the frame were all different sizes and shapes - he busted a gut laughing and said, “when the wind came along it would all fall down.”
I’ll let you know when this analogy runs out and we need a new one for nice hand writing!
P.S. Check out the pic titled “Sound or Shaky Shop”. The first set of words were before analogy and the second after the analogy that worked :) Oh yeah, the second set is also in alphabetical order which he is learning now!!!
We didn’t get a photo, but we thought this was good enough to share……
Ella dropped her lollipop on the playground in the bark. Tears were quick to come as she picked it up and held it out to Jack. Jack said, “Yuck, Ella!” as he quickly grabbed it, swirled his tongue all around and spit, repeated the tongue swirl and spit. He didn’t miss a step as he handed it back, tears were gone and they went on playing.
Jack loves playing t ball. View the images and video. I will have more shots of him playing soon!
We were fortunate enough to be given tickets to Australian Idol again this year - and were able to take our friends! Erin and Chris enjoyed it!
Jack and Ella both dressed up as Super Heros. Our camera was acting up, so I didn’t get a bunch of good photos of the kids.
