The attraction highlight while Danny and Montine were in Australia, was a visit to the Tobruk Sheep Farm. It is one of the best days we have had in Australia. They are open on special days for families to learn about sheep farming and enjoy their farm. The day started off with damper (warm bread with syrup, yummy!) and tea. We then learned how the dogs work to herd the sheep into the corral and other sheep knowledge. We were shown how a sheep is sheared, and yes, I got to participate. We got to practice throwing a boomerang (oops, Jack got hit in the head by one) and cracking a whip. Lunch was served and we had salad, steak, vegetables and traditional desserts, anzac cookies and lamingtons. Singing and dancing were provided during the meal. Jack and Ella loved seeing the animals.
The weather was nice most days Danny and Montine were here. They took the kids for walks at least once, but usually more, a day. A green park close to the apartment, is called Silkstone Park. Jack can ride his bike, play hopscotch and we all play chase.
When we got back to Sydney, it was in the middle of Spring Break for the school children. There are always many activities scheduled during breaks. Westfield Malls schedules some great children activities. We went to two of the activities while Danny and Montine were here.
The first event was Baby Farm Animals.
The second event was Kids Decorate. Jack did this event while Ella was distracted by being pushed around in her stroller. He was dressed with an apron, chefs hat and then was able to decorate cakes. Using a cookie cutter he cut out five shapes (he counted one for each of us, Mom, Nana, Papa, Ella and one for him) and decorated them all. Pics:
Ben and I have wanted to learn to sail. Well, I have wanted to sail for as long as I can remember, and fortunately Ben was very taken with the sport. It requires alot of focus and thinking to determine which sail when, etc. Since Danny and Montine were here with us, we were able to take an overnight sailing course on Sydney Harbour. Peter Edington is a sailmaster and provided us with an excellent course. If we sail and train one more weekend, we will have the Competent Crew certificate. It is in the plan for sometime this next year.
